Ongoing Classes

Please see below for general notes regarding these classes.

1) The Weekly Torah Reading

Shabbat Mornings: 9:10 – 9:50 am

We discuss a selection of the weekly torah reading, parashat ha’shavua, analyzing the p’shat, the simple meaning of the text, and exploring its philosophical and spiritual message for today. Coffee and cake will be served.

3) Text-Based Talmud Study: Avodah Zarah

Mondays: 8:15 – 9:15 pm

Join us for an hour of text-based Talmud learning.

4) The Tanya: Spiritual Psychology You Can Use

Thursdays: 8:15 – 9:15 pm

The Tanya, the Chassidic classic written by the founder of Chabad Chassidism and first published in 1799, teaches how one can unite mind, heart, body and soul and powerful, practical ways to control and refine thought, speech and action that are relevant to everyday life.

General Notes:

We meet in small groups, and the learning is participatory, with lots of discussion and shakla v’tarya (give and take). These classes (and all of Chabad’s programs) are open to all men and women regardless of affiliation or level of observance. Feel free to sit in or try any of these classes. Most classes can be appreciated by a beginner as well as an advanced learner.

All classes  take place at 7334 Rural Lane in West Mt. Airy. All necessary texts are provided, usually in Hebrew and English translation. There is no charge for these classes. If you would like to be updated about changes to any particular class, please let us know and you will be put on the email list for that class.

For more information or to RSVP, please email rabbig@chabadnwp.org or call Chabad at 215-438-5327.
